The Way Back
Jeremiah 6:16 "This is what the Lord says, stand in the crossroads and look for the ancient paths where the good way is, and walk in it. Then you shall find rest for your souls."
There is a path that leads to peace in our heart and to eternal life.
It's not a difficult path to find.
Even the most simple can enter this path.
Once we make the choice to allow Christ to reign in our lives by following His Word and His leading we will find rest for our souls.
As we make this choice the peace of God guards our heart and mind and life begins anew.
Obedience to God's Word is the channel through which blessings flow
Once the decision to obey God's revealed truth is made and we take steps to live in His will our heart begins to rest and we can leave all consequences in His hands.
God has given His will for every wife, husband and child to find loving peace together.
He has clearly defined roles for men and women to follow so homes are peaceful.
He has defined the roles of church leadership and gatherings so gatherings are blessed with His presence.
He has shown the way for business and leaders to live in peace and joy.
He has laid out a plan for nations to live in peace through following His leadership.
When we say that we have decided to follow Jesus we must examine our hearts.
Following means we are not leading, but we are being guided by another and willingly doing their bidding.
If we are leading, we are not following.
God, Who created human life has a plan.
Following His plan guarantees peace and victory.
His plan is for a man to lead, protect and provide.
His plan is for a woman to be a loving helpmeet to her beloved.
Children are to respect, honor and obey their parents.
Family is the foundation of life in God's plan.
Peaceful, godly families raise godly offspring.
This is the path that restores a nation.
Jeremiah 6:16 tells us to look for and follow the ancient paths of obedience to God so blessing can come.
Unfortunately, the people's response to Jeremiah's call to return to God in obedience was........."No! We will not walk in God's way."
Why?
What benefit or joy did they expect from rebellion?
The answer......their benefit and joy was their rebellion.
Many people cannot, and will never, find any joy in obedience to Christ.
Their lives are all about doing life their way.
No matter how miserable life becomes, some people are happiest when they do exactly as they please and only exactly as they please.
They may say they love God but the fruit of their lives prove otherwise.
Words are meaningless.
God is not mocked.
Either people are following, or they are not following.
From the state of affairs we find ourselves in today we can only deduce that most have walked away from the ancient paths.
They have replied as the people in Jeremiah 6.... "We will not walk in the ancient paths."
May we repent and bow the knee to the One Who created life and expects us to live on His terms.
In Christ alone can all things be made new.
Oh give us homes built firm upon the Savior...
