Psalm 91
I was speaking with my husband last evening about the affairs of the world. I was wondering how to prepare for times that might be troubling. He reminded me that we can prepare best by leaving our needs in God's hands. He felt it was enough to know he has prepared to meet the needs of our family as best we were able and to trust God for the future. My daughter reminded us of the Ten Boom family during World War two and how God met their needs plus the needs of many people who came to their humble home for love, shelter and provision. Papa Ten Boom's plan was to walk with Jesus through trials and to provide day by day through the Lord's Hand. This brought great peace to their family and to those in their care. In God's plan and timing the Ten Boom family faced difficult trials. They choose courage and confidence in Christ throughout these trials. When the family of Papa Ten Boom came to a time of great trial, Papa left them with the gift of Psalm 91 to strengthen and encourage their hearts. I find encouragement in the same Psalm today.... He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress. My God, in Him I trust." The Lord reminds my heart today that trials are always going to be a part of living. Our goal is courage and faith and to shine a light in the world. Christians are God's hands and feet as long as we are on this journey. We bring Light. We provide care. We are warmth in the cold. We are hope in the midst of darkness. We are people of prayer. We guide the lost. We use provision to meet need. We put others before self. We forgive because we are forgiven. We endure hardship in the name of Jesus. We look for a heavenly home. We expect Victory because we serve a Victorious King. We rejoice always. We hold the line in battle. We don't take our eyes off our Captain. We follow where He leads. We hear only His voice. We follow only Him. We put our hand to the plow. We don't look back. We make our decision before the battle begins. We don't lose faith. This is how we prepare..... |
