A Continual Feast
I found this beautiful sign at a local boutique.
It speaks to me of what I want my home to be filled with.
I want the rooms of my home to be filled with precious and pleasant riches.
I'm not speaking of rich and elaborate furnishings, because we don't have such in our little cottage.....rather rich and pleasant riches that come from the spirit of the Lord filling the hearts of those dwelling within.
The knowledge of the Lord....His will and desires....fill a heart and then our rooms are filled with peaceful and sensible living.
Those dwelling in a home provide rich and pleasant riches through the spirit of Christ flowing through their presence.
As Proverbs 21 reminds us.... it's better to live in the corner of an attic than with a quarrelsome wife....or may I add a disagreeable husband, or ill tempered children.
People are the ornaments and blessings of a happy home filled with precious and pleasant riches.
A joyful pleasant heart fills a home with brightness and blessing.
Proverbs 15 reminds me that a cheerful heart has a continual feast. And as that cheerful banquet is shared with those we live with home is a precious refuge.
My husband once said, "If I'm not at work, and I'm not at home, then I'm on my way home."
That blessed my heart.
I want his little castle filled with precious and pleasant riches and I want him to hurry on back as soon as possible.
This little spot is, after all, his castle.
There are surely many places of unhappiness in our world.
It's because the world wanted to leave the Lord...the only goodness and blessing we have in this world.
Home is the last refuge of peace and happiness in an ever darkening world.
I like my home to be a happy refuge.
When someone enters in I like them to feel an instant peace and welcome arms.
Here is a place of joy, laughter, prayer, good food, happy conversation and love.
Our homes and our hearts are ours to shape and fill. If we invite the Lord's presence in and follow His will, we will find that our hearts and homes are beautiful places filled with precious and pleasant riches.
We can share these riches with others and tell them how to build a life of beauty and blessing.
I realize that things are stirred up out in the world, but I don't want that Spirit within the walls of my little domain.
Life isn't meant to be dark and people haven't the strength to constantly be in battle mode.
My desire is to create a little haven or refuge away from unhappy things.
It's my offering.
Good food.
Rooms filled with pleasant riches.
A flower garden.
Happy music playing.
A cheerful smile.
Laughter.
Creative and lovely crafts.
Bright conversation.
Prayer and focused attention.
May the Lord take these humble offerings and multiply them to bring fullness and joy to those who enter my little space and my small life.
My life is just a small speck.....but I want it to be a life that brings blessings from the Lord into the land of the living.
I'm never giving into the darkness.
A cheerful heart has a continual feast and I long to share this banquet.
I'm called to be Light and to share the love of Jesus.
How about you?
Happy Am I....
