Farther Along

I was listening to a lovely old hymn as I prepared our evening meal.......

Farther along we'll know all about it

Farther along we'll understand why

Cheer up my brother live in the sunshine

We'll understand it all by and by.

A sweet friend stopped in for tea and a little catching up. We've been sisters in the Lord over fifty years. We've seen so much come and go together.

We realize that we are  are living in an unusual season and we wonder what the Lord has in His plans.

We will understand it all by and by.

And we will see that His plans and wisdom were good and necessary to bring about His glory.

In the meantime, there is life to live and enjoy.

As the hymn says......live in the sunshine. We'll understand in His time.

The Lord gave me the sweetest little gift one day. I was looking through the books at my local thrift store and on the very bottom shelf I found a gem.....

The story of Mimosa was written by Amy Carmichael.

If you don't know her life story of living in India as a missionary you're missing out on a wonderful blessing. Please take time to get to know dear Amy. You'll be blessed.

The story of Mimosa and her life of loving and following a Savior whose name she had only heard once as a little child is touching.

She lived in confidence and trust in her precious Savior even though she had no real knowledge of who He was.

In childhood she paid a difficult price for trusting a foreign God. Yet, her faith was unshakable.

Those who had shared the wonderful name of Jesus with Mimosa in a short visit during her childhood prayed for her through her life.

God strengthened little Mimosa to believe and live by trusting Jesus.

When she was an older woman she was able to live with the missionaries and finally learn more about her precious beloved Savior.

She was given the tiniest of crumbs to encourage her childhood faith.

She took those little portions and through the help of the Holy Spirit she grew in strength and obedience to her Savior.

I leave you with a quote from Mimosa.

It is from Amy Carmichael in response to prayer for those we cannot reach or influence.

She realized that praying for Mimosa was enough because Christ is faithful.

Even though they could not contact her or influence her growth in Christ after sharing His name with her, they could pray and God did answer in wonderful ways.

"Fear not at all. Where your hands cannot reach and your love cannot help, His Hands can reach and His love can help. So why be afraid?  Miles of space and solid walls and locked doors are nothing to Love. The Lord Jesus can do anything, keep anyone, shine anywhere, comfort in spite of all the forces of the enemy, comfort in any circumstance.  Circumstances are nothing to Him. He is King of all. The Spirit conquers always."

Pray without ceasing.

God is at work among us.

One day we will understand all.
