Miss Cindy Says "Hey!"

My dear one is on vacation this week so we are taking little rides out into the country.

We went to Emerson Creek Pottery yesterday and bought a few things for our kitchen.

I've shared photos of their pottery here before. Little pieces I've picked up at a second hand store or antique store.

I love the simplicity of their hand painted pottery. They use red Virginia clay in the pottery which I think is so  pretty.

Their store is in an old 1800 log cabin. A family who once lived in the cabin made pottery. Members of the family served in the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. The little homestead is still standing as well as an old chimney from a old black smith shop.

The sweet lady in the gift shop, Miss Cindy, and her husband were more interested in dear ones antique truck than anything else.

I got a picture of her sweet smile as he showed her his beloved truck.

She just made our day with her cheery disposition.  She made us promise to come visit her again. There are so many truly nice people in the world.

I'm glad Emerson Creek made it through this time when so many small businesses are closing.  I noticed as we drove through our little town that our health food store closed. They worked so hard for many years and were able to build a new store a couple years ago. Now they are closed. It makes me sad.

We bought some cranberry dinner plates that were on sale when we visited. They are so pretty.

We also bought a plate to bake shortbread cookies in.

I could have stayed and visited here all day enjoying Miss Cindy and the old log cabin.

I just enjoy going out into the country away from traffic and noise and visiting with local country people. It's so charming and relaxing.

Miss Cindy wanted me to get a photo of her tulips. She says they bloom out white with a tiny purple trim on top, then suddenly they turn all purple! She was so excited about the tulips.

The lovely dogwood in front was a beauty. My dogwoods are in bloom too....a sure sign of Spring.

"Ya'll come in a sit a spell".......words often heard from local folks.

Many a store has some place to sit and chat when visitors come along.

Isn't this little blue checkered sofa by the fire place inviting?

Miss Cindy hand makes the greeting cards hanging along the fireplace. I bought a handful to share with people I love💕

How about those cute little dragon flies on the pottery below?

Love them so much!

The pottery is painted with pictures of things that are common to this area.

My favorite design is the wild iris design which is their signature design. I'll share a photo of that tomorrow.

Life in an old log cabin appeals to me.

There are many old cabins and other homesteads in our area that I love to visit.

I wish I could go back a bit in time to the quiet home-focused days of years passed.

Days when folks were really happy to see you come to visit.

Days when porch sittin' was a way of life.

Miss Cindy asked if we'd like to sit a spell on the porch.....

What a sweet little visit we had at Emerson Creek ....

Miss Cindy just made our day!

Love her happy laughter....

We will be traveling up the the Blue Ridge parkway today. I'm hoping the azaleas are in bloom. We'll be taking a little picnic along.

I often tell my husband that there's nothing like Virginia in the Springtime....or the Autumn.... or the Summer 😊😊

Shenandoah is the state song of Virginia....
