My Virginia

As the saying goes....... I wasn't born in Virginia but I got here as quick as I could.

I was born and raised in the West.

I love the Rocky Mountains,
but as one friend said to me.....
 The  Rockies are majestic
and powerful in their beauty,
but the Blue Ridge mountains
roll gentle and soft like
a handmade quilt.

I quite agree.

We took a picnic to the Blue Ridge yesterday.

The valley floor was breezy and warm, the trees were brilliant in many colors and shades of Spring green.

The sky was azure and full of puffy white clouds.

As we ascended to the top of the mountains, the sky grew dark and the trees were bare.

Looking over the cliffs we could see the green of Spring slowly working it's way up to the top.

I was hoping to see the azaleas in bloom as my azaleas are full of flowers right now.

These mountains have beautiful groves of azalea, rhododendron and mountain laurel.

It was too early this trip to see any flowers.
We will have to return at a later time.

It was quite chilly up on the mountain, so we pulled into  an overlook facing Arnold Valley.

The valley below looked like patch work quilts.
Some fields plowed and brown,
and some fields green and flower filled.

The mountain was bare,
but the valley was beautiful below.

We decided it was too chilly for an outdoor picnic so we had a glove box table picnic.

I brought my dogwood flower tea cup and hot raspberry tea and dear one had his ice cold rootbeer.....just right!

I also packed some sandwiches.
It was right cozy and pleasant!

I highly recommend lunching in an old truck using the glove box table.😊

As we drove down from the mountain the sun was warm and the trees in bloom.

Such a nice day all around.

I spotted some elegant wisteria growing in a lady's yard.......isn't it pretty?

Across a farm field I spotted the mountains we had just left behind.....

Aren't they lovely?

A scripture came to mind......

"Before the mountains were born
or You brought forth the whole world,
from everlasting to everlasting
You are God."
Psalm 90:2

Have a blessed day dear one.

Enjoy the gifts God has
 placed in your hands today.

Remember Jesus said
He came to give us abundant life.

Don't let anything ruin the
good gifts you've been given
by your Father
