My Heart Is Fixed

"My heart is fixed/steadfast, Oh Lord, I will sing and give praise." Psalm 57: 7

In this Psalm David is hiding in a cave from Saul who is seeking to take his life.

His response is to cry out to the Lord and sing praise to Him.

His response is not fear and trembling, but confidence and praise.

This story reminds me of Paul singing praises to God in the prison at midnight.

This is the best response in times of fear or times when the enemy seems to take the upper hand.

We are at a point where we must bring every thought into submission to God. One way to do this is to sing praise to God and saturate our minds with God's Word while praying without ceasing.

Truth is our anchor.

We cannot afford straying thoughts of doubt and fear.

It is entirely possible for every child of God to bring the thoughts of their mind under the control of the Holy Spirit. 2 Corinthians 10:4

Perfect love casts out fear. 1 John 4:18

God hasn't given us a spirit of fear. He has given us power, love and a sound mind.

A sound mind is a stable healthy mind.

A sound mind doesn't overly focus on the world's problems, it is focused on our eternal hope in Christ and His power that lives within our heart.

A sound mind is guarded through prayer and obedience to Christ.

God's Word promises peace to those who bring their thoughts into submission by focusing on things that are true and lovely and of good report. Philippians 4:8

We are not to worry about anything, but by prayer and giving of thanks we bring all our requests to God. He then gives us peace that will guard our hearts and minds. Philippians 4:6-7

Some people today act as if they have lost faith or lost their minds and their peace.

Our hope and faith are essential today. People are longing for a comforting word. They long to hear words of hope and encouragement.

We are the lights in the world. We are here for such a time as this. Matthew 5:14

I hear this daily in my heart when I pray...."be a light...let your words edify...take courage."

As we put on the armor of God each day we are reminded that we are safely covered. Every part of our body is covered and protected..... except our back. We aren't expected to turn and run, therefore, God has not given armor for our back. Ephesians 6:11

Remember this..... Christians run to the fire. They run toward need, not away from need.

We are on the front lines as this battle heats up. This is where God expects us to remain.

Hold the line....stand firm.

We have to get control of our emotions and stand in the hope Jesus has given us.

Keep your emotions level and mentally prepare for a long battle.

The situation we are in isn't going to resolve quickly and may not be according to our wishes.

We have had days of sweet blessing in our lives in the world we live in.

Now is our opportunity to show our gratitude by standing firmly by faith as we go through days that are going to be very different from the life we once knew.

This is not the day to look over our shoulder.

Soldiers of Christ face reality with courage.

If we prepare our hearts ahead of time we will still be standing when the air clears.

Victory in battle comes from a heart prepared to let everything go but the Lord.

My heart is set Oh Lord....my heart is fixed.

This battle belongs to the Lord.

Jesus is Victor!

The words of The Battle Hymn Of The Republic ring in my heart today.....

I share a few verses. I hope you will take time to read the words of this hymn in full.

I have read His fiery gospel writ in rows of burnished steel! As you deal with My condemners, so with you My grace shall deal. Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with His heal. Since God is marching on.

He has sounded forth the trumpet which shall never call retreat; He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment seat. Oh be swift my soul to answer Him, be jubilant my feet. My God is marching on.
