Your Father Knows What You Need

We're kind of tucked in here
for the colder days of Winter
and tightening restrictions.

We are working on a few hobbies
to keep our minds busy.
I've been enjoying puzzles.
They sure challenge my mind.

There are also some wonderful
books to keep us company.

I'd like to share a few books
that have been of great encouragement
to me and share a portion of one
that blessed my heart this morning.

My newest book was written
in 1662 through 1665 by a
pastor named William Gurnall
of Suffolk England.

My favorite pastors seem to
come from the 1600's through the 1800's.

The book from Gurnall is titled
"The Christian In Complete Armour".

I purchased my copy through
banneroftruth.org.

I enjoy everything printed
through Banner of Truth
and highly recommend them.

It's not a quick read,
I will take about a year to
savor and enjoy it contents.

Each page is rich with encouragement.

Charles Spurgeon wrote
of this book....
"Gurnall's work is peerless
and priceless;
every line is full of wisdom."

John Newton wrote...
"If  I might read only one book
beside the Bible I would choose
The Christian In Complete Armour."

It's not often today that one
hears the depths of Truth from the
pulpit that pastors prepared and fed
the hungry hearts of their congregations back in the days of the wonderful
 Puritan pastors and writers.

Truth is what fortifies a believer's
heart and steadies them in the midst
of troubles and trials.

Matthew 6:8 reminds us that
our heavenly Father knows
what we need even before we
ask Him.
Gurnall writes of this verse...

God takes care of His saints.
He looks into our cupboard and
sees what our needs are,
and sends to us according to
the needs He sees we have.
He adds fullness and
stabilizes  our strength.
Every believer has Christ
at his back, following him
with strength and provision
as he goes, for every trial
and for every need.
His children are never left
to stand on their own.

The armor of God is our
provision for victory in the
days ahead.

Every believer,
young or old ,
needs to know what this
gift of armor is and how
to put it on for victory.

I pray that these days
of being home more during
Winter and restriction will be
a time of great growth in God's
Word and prayer.

I've seen some mighty answer
to prayer recently among those I'm
blessed to call prayer partners.

God is mightily at work
among His children.

I encourage us to join
in fasting and prayer and
time in the Word.

We serve a mighty God.

Expect to see great things.
