The Sayings And Doings of Others
We will find much peace if we do not busy ourselves with the sayings and doings of others which do not concern us. We cannot remain at peace for long if we get involved in other people's matters or go about seeking distractions.
I have to admit that I have been paying too much attention to the noise around me....and it is noisy right now isn't it?
God's Word promises that we will only reap the things that we have sown. If we sow seeds of righteousness and obedience to God's Word then we will reap the blessings of peace and blessings from God.
It would have been best to stay on the narrow path of obedience to God so that we could have a blessed harvest.
I'll leave it at that concerning my thoughts on all that is out of sorts in the world around us.
My personal concern in the midst of what we are reaping is taking care of what I am personally responsible for and being careful of my own reaction.
I spoke with my dear husband about this. His advice is always simple and doable. He reminded me of the role I have been given by the Lord, as a homemaker and his helpmeet.
God gave me this role. It's a blessed role. Others may see it as worth little and not useful in the world as it is now unfolding.
God, however, considers this role vital. Titus two says for a woman to keep her home, love her family and do good and be reverent.
And not only to do that herself, but to teach younger women to do the same thing.
Knowing what others do or say cannot help me in my tasks as a homemaker or as my husband's helpmeet.
I cannot put on battle gear and fight an enemy.
I can put on God's armor and pray and be faithful to my calling.
I cannot voice my opinion loudly enough to change others hearts and turn people around.
I can speak truth in love to those in my presence and edify them with words from Scripture.
Knowing what others are doing and saying is not my business.
My business is to live each day as unto the Lord. Then to do the next thing necessary to meet the needs of the world I live in...the world of my home and family.
My husband sweetly reminded me yesterday that Jesus said His yoke is easy and His burden is light.
He reminded me that, as my husband, he would be the one to courageously lead and protect his home and family in every way necessary.
God's plan for me is to follow and enjoy whatever blessings come to my hand each day.
This is not difficult. It wasn't meant to be difficult.
God has a plan.
I simply need to stay on the narrow path and remain where He has placed me.
Each day He will be with us and meet each need moment by moment.
Then, as my husband reminded me, Jesus will be with us and He has promised never to leave us or forsake us.
So.....for today...there are meals to prepare, a home in need of my care, and a family in need of encouragement.
These are the people I'm involved with, the people I can fellowship with and enjoy today's blessings with.
What are other people doing and saying?
Well...to be honest I don't know. But as for me and my house, we are busy serving and enjoying the Lord.
A quote from J R Miller....
Oh give us homes built firm upon the Savior...
