Our Mission Field

I'm re-reading a captivating book about the life of Russell and Darlene Deibler missionaries to New Guinea during WW 2.

At one point Russell and Darlene were sent to different camps and forced to endure difficult situations which tested, tried, and proved their faith and trust in Christ.

A precious elderly saint sent this book to my daughter a while back. I can see God's purpose in placing it in our hands today. The experiences of the dear saints who have gone before us can teach valuable lessons concerning our walk with Jesus through difficult times.

Simply put, Darlene survived and grew spiritually through prayer, maintaining fellowship with the saints she was living with, through reading and trusting the Word, and bringing every thought captive to Christ.

So many have mentioned to me recently that they sense the Holy Spirit encouraging them to memorize Scripture and hymns.

I think this is vital and will carry our hearts through days of future victories in Christ.

The Lord's call to my heart these days is prayer. I've not been called to a mission field outside of my own home, but I am called to pray for many across the globe.

Although the story is centered on Darlene's experience during this season of her life, I was joined in heart with an elderly missionary she wrote about  named Dr. Robert Jaffray.

Dr. Jaffray had known many years of service to China and Indonesia. He had a tremendous heart of prayer and was known to be found praying over his world atlas seeking the Lord to move on various continents to seek and save the lost.

I share a passage from the book......

" There before me sat the old man, his eyes were closed, but I knew he wasn't sleeping. One hand rested on his open atlas...I knew that by faith he and his Lord were moving down the great chain of islands known as the Netherlands East Indies. Seeing my presence, Dr. Jaffrey looked up and smiled-the smile of one who had had sweet communion with the Lord. I was sure that God had acquiesced to  Dr. Jaffray's proposals concerning reaching the lost, for this, too, was the great burden of the heart of God."

My heart just melted at these words. To think of God acquiescing to our cries for the lost because this is the burden of His own heart deeply touched me.

Isn't this an amazing thought?

That right here in my little cottage I can pray and the Mighty Sovereign God Who controls the whole universe will hear my prayer overwhelms me.

My heart aches for the children of this world.

The children of Syria, North Korea, Mexico, China, Russia.....those right now at the border of America hoping to come to us for a better life, those in my area who have need of love and care.

As we see our world in need today I pray that people would come to Jesus as He sends harvesters into the fields that are white and ready to harvest. Oh Lord Jesus hear our prayers!

In reading The Christian In Complete Armour yesterday I was reminded that the Christless state is a state of impotency.....weakness.  Yet, those who are in Christ have hearts filled by the Holy Spirit...hearts of love, joy and holy desires.

We are looking at a world filled with unbelievers. People who are impotent to help with the great need of the hour in which we live.

The power of Christ in us must be as strong as possible. We are the light. We have the truth. We know the Answer. We are here for such a time as this.

Our mission...to pray. To bring down the power of God into the lives of those He has placed upon our hearts.

God loves people.

He leaves us here to relay that message through our words, our deeds and our prayers.

That's the reason we are here.

Make the most of your missionary opportunities today♥️
